According to data released by INE, there were <strong data-start=\"514\" data-end=\"541\">2.9 million guests<\/strong> (+8.5%) and <strong data-start=\"552\" data-end=\"579\">7.1 million overnight stays<\/strong> (+9.2%) compared to the same month in 2024. <strong data-start=\"619\" data-end=\"675\">Total revenue amounted to \u20ac571.1 million<\/strong> (+12.6%) and <strong data-start=\"690\" data-end=\"715\">room revenue<\/strong> reached <strong data-start=\"726\" data-end=\"752\">\u20ac436.0 million<\/strong> (+13.9%).  <\/p>\n<p data-start=\"764\" data-end=\"993\">This robust performance was influenced, in part, by the <strong data-start=\"821\" data-end=\"858\">change in the Easter calendar<\/strong>, which in 2025 fell in April (in 2024, it was in March), concentrating tourist flows in a more favourable period in terms of demand.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"995\" data-end=\"1070\">From January to April 2025, the results remain positive:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1071\" data-end=\"1270\">\n<li data-start=\"1071\" data-end=\"1108\">\n<p data-start=\"1073\" data-end=\"1108\"><strong data-start=\"1073\" data-end=\"1100\">8.5 million guests<\/strong> (+4.4%)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1109\" data-end=\"1147\">\n<p data-start=\"1111\" data-end=\"1147\"><strong data-start=\"1111\" data-end=\"1139\">20.5 million overnight stays<\/strong> (+2.7%)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1148\" data-end=\"1206\">\n<p data-start=\"1150\" data-end=\"1206\"><strong data-start=\"1150\" data-end=\"1198\">Total revenue of \u20ac1.5 billion<\/strong> (+7.5%)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1207\" data-end=\"1270\">\n<p data-start=\"1209\" data-end=\"1270\"><strong data-start=\"1209\" data-end=\"1262\">1.1 billion euros in accommodation revenue<\/strong> (+7.7%)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 data-start=\"1272\" data-end=\"1330\">Tourism continues to drive service exports<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1332\" data-end=\"1652\">The Bank of Portugal&#8217;s preliminary indicator for the Travel and Tourism item in the balance of payments points to a <strong data-start=\"1453\" data-end=\"1503\">7.6% growth in tourism exports in April<\/strong>, reaching <strong data-start=\"1524\" data-end=\"1553\">2,227.69 million euros<\/strong>. Tourism <strong data-start=\"1565\" data-end=\"1606\">imports also grew by 9.0%<\/strong>, reaching <strong data-start=\"1624\" data-end=\"1651\">633.61 million euros<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1654\" data-end=\"1844\">In the first four months of 2025, <strong data-start=\"1686\" data-end=\"1747\">tourism revenues exceeded \u20ac7.2 billion<\/strong> (+5.1%), while <strong data-start=\"1769\" data-end=\"1835\">tourism expenditure exceeded \u20ac1.66 billion<\/strong> (+5.3%).<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1846\" data-end=\"1912\">Portugal remains one of the most popular destinations in Europe<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1914\" data-end=\"2259\">According to the <em data-start=\"1940\" data-end=\"2001\">European Travel Commission (ETC) report Monitoring Sentiment for Domestic<\/em> and <strong data-start=\"2005\" data-end=\"2041\">Intra-European Travel<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"2043\" data-end=\"2091\">Portugal remains in the TOP 10 of European tourists&#8217; preferences<\/strong> for the next 6 months. The survey, which assessed 10 source markets, indicates that <strong data-start=\"2199\" data-end=\"2258\">72% of Europeans intend to travel by the end of the summer<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2261\" data-end=\"2301\">Among those who intend to visit Portugal:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"2302\" data-end=\"2607\">\n<li data-start=\"2302\" data-end=\"2392\">\n<p data-start=\"2304\" data-end=\"2392\"><strong data-start=\"2304\" data-end=\"2348\">30.4% have been to the country before<\/strong>, indicating a high rate of loyalty.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"2304\" data-end=\"2392\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px\">The most valued criteria when choosing a destination are:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul data-start=\"2454\" data-end=\"2607\">\n<li data-start=\"2454\" data-end=\"2517\">\n<p data-start=\"2456\" data-end=\"2517\"><strong data-start=\"2456\" data-end=\"2469\">Safety<\/strong> (a priority for more than half of respondents)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2520\" data-end=\"2561\">\n<p data-start=\"2522\" data-end=\"2561\"><strong data-start=\"2522\" data-end=\"2553\">Good weather conditions<\/strong> (39.1%)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2564\" data-end=\"2607\">\n<p data-start=\"2566\" data-end=\"2607\"><strong data-start=\"2566\" data-end=\"2599\">Attractive promotions and offers<\/strong> (34.8%)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 data-start=\"2609\" data-end=\"2674\">Sustainability and efficiency: pillars of future tourism<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"2609\" data-end=\"2674\">In a context of growing tourist demand, it is essential to ensure the sustainability of destinations, balancing increased activity with the protection of natural resources and the quality of life of local communities.
